How this ever worked for any length of time is a mystery. A new consumer unit wired to a meter with old rubber covered cable, (way too small for the current in any case, even if it had been one cable to the CU). Connection to the grey cables is made with a connector block...the only thing standing between anyone who touches that and eternity is a 100A main fuse... Another potentially fatal exercise in wiring up.
